Series consists of letterpress copybooks of outgoing mail of Washington, D.C., agent Gardiner Tufts (as well as a copybook of the Massachusetts Soldiers' Relief Association, which collaborated with the agency early in the war) , to a wide variety of correspondents, including the governor and adjutant general of Massachusetts, individual soldiers, their families, and others with a need for information about military personnel.
